A Friend of the Industry - Doug Lilak

A dear friend of the PEO industry left us this past November.  I am embarrassed to not announce it sooner. In 1999, I was lucky to meet Doug Lillak while with Lumberman's Underwriting Alliance ("LUA").   With his and Bob Gagne's help, the newly-formed Risk Transfer Solutions wrote their very first master policy for a PEO on 1.1.00.Doug went on to help start SUNZ Insurance Company and become their CEO with a business plan to only support alternative staffing, mainly due to Doug's belief in the PEO model.

That is all SUNZ still does to this day - a testament to Doug's vision and belief in coemployment. While Doug's background was in the logging and lumber sectors prior to his immersion in PEO, unlike most traditional insurance executives, He got the model - the clarity - the future - the impact...Believed...!  In me 15+ years ago, and more importantly the industry as a whole. Will so miss his candor, opinion and passion for PEO.  You'd never be anywhere on any topic that he did not have something to add to -and with Glen Destefano... always fought for the PEO industry --- without regard. I respect him greatly -Godspeed.  My heart is heavy --PH Home Obituaries Douglas Francis Lilak, 68
