WCIRB Adds Director of Medical Analytics
San Francisco, CA July 2, 2013 - Today the WCIRB announced that Greg Johnson, Ph.D. has joined the WCIRB as the new Director of Medical Analytics. In this newly-created role, Greg will work closely with the WCIRB's medical data collection and actuarial teams to lead research efforts using medical transaction data which the WCIRB began collecting in late 2012.This new research will be used to support the WCIRB's ratemaking processes, monitor the costs emerging from SB 863, evaluate the cost impact of future legislative, regulatory and judicial changes, and provide valuable medical cost information to insurers, public policymakers and other industry stakeholders. Prior to joining the WCIRB, Greg was a management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers (now IBM Business Consulting Services) and Ernst & Young. In his 26-year career, he focused on program evaluation and process improvements for health care and insurance organizations. He has been involved in numerous studies related to the California Workers' Compensation medical benefit delivery system. He received a B.A. from the University of Oregon, and a M.A. and PhD. from Harvard University.
