Mr. Hughes is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Libertate Insurance, providers of enterprise risk management services and exclusive product offerings in property and casualty insurance. Mr. Hughes has placed property and casualty insurance since 1992, and offers consultation services in the areas of underwriting, claims, managed care processes, loss projection and risk management.
After starting his career with Liberty Mutual as a retail agent, Mr. Hughes went on to become the Regional Client Services/Sales Manager for ManagedComp, a national workers’ compensation TPA/MGA. Under his direction, ManagedComp opened in Florida in 1996 and grew to $60 million of premiums placed by 1999. In May 2000, Mr. Hughes created Risk Transfer, a company whose focus is working with industries having some type of duress in procuring insurance.
Mr. Hughes remains an active member of various industry and insurance associations and participates in legislative initiatives relative to commercial accounts he works with. He is a board member of the Risk Management Best Practices Certification Institute; he acts as a PEO University Professor in workers’ compensation and has authored articles for the Crummer School of Business, PEO Insider and Florida Underwriter publications. Mr. Hughes has also presented Risk Management Best Practices seminars to NAAS, FAPEO, GAPEO, NWAPEO and the Florida Workers Compensation Educational Conference. He has a BA from Rollins College, an MBA from The Crummer School of Business and is a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC).
Executive Vice President Libertate Insurance, LLC
Ms. Reynolds is the Executive Vice President of Libertate Insurance, LLC. Besides managing in excess of $20m in premiums for the company, she is a member of the executive operating board that governs operations and service. Prior to joining Libertate in September of 2014, Ms. Reynolds served several different service and sales capacities at Risk Transfer Programs, LLC. Her initial assignment was the management and stewardship of five master policies generating $35m of premiums. Later, she sent on to be the lead in rolling out the company’s patent-pending technology, RiskMD, to the company’s top 50 clients. During her career Sharlie has successfully managed almost $200m of commercial property and casualty insurance premiums.
Before Sharlie started in the insurance industry, she had 14 years of successful Consumer Packaged Goods experience working for companies such as Coca-Cola, Tyson Foods, Cadbury Schweppes and Bacardi USA in the roles of Sales or Sales Management. She managed multiple key accounts as well as national and local program executions for high-profile brands such as Dewar’s Scotch, vitaminwater, smartwater and Canada Dry where she held lead roles in planning, sell-in, creative development, program execution and evaluation.
Ms. Reynolds has a BSBA from the University of Arkansas and an MBA from the University of Florida.
David Campbell studied Risk Management & Insurance at Florida State University. Having grown up in an insurance household, he quickly graduated the program in 3 years. Before joining Libertate in 2015, David had internships at a top 25 Florida PEO and one of Florida’s largest insurance agencies. Outside of the office, David enjoys playing almost any sport, learning new technology platforms, and trying creative recipes out in the kitchen. Inside the office David’s favorite topics are carrier & market trends, and high-risk programs’ performance.
